Former Eagle Adam Moore Fullfills Major League Dream

Former Northeast Texas Community College Eagle Adam Moore was called up on Sunday September 13 by the Seattle Mariners. Moore was a sixth-round draft pick (171st overall) in the 2006 MLB draft by the Seattle Mariners. The catcher was called up from Triple A Tacoma where he hit .287 with 24 doubles, 12 home runs, and 56 runs batted in. Moore made his official major league debut on Thursday September 17 where he caught all 14 innings in a win against the Chicago White Sox in extra innings. At the plate Moore went 0-5 in his first game batting in the 9 hole.

Moore, an East Texas native from Mineola, TX, played for NTCC from 2003-2005 where he was a 1st Team All Texas Eastern Athletic Conference selection for two years. During his freshman year Moore hit .381 with 60 runs batted in, 14 home runs, and helped guide the Eagles to a Conference Championship in 2003. During his sophomore campaign, Moore hit .395 with 18 doubles, 14 home runs, and posted a .734 slugging percentage. Behind the plate he threw out 68% of attempted base stealers.

After his two years at NTCC Moore had signed with the University of Nebraska where he redshirted for a year. He then transferred to the University of Texas Arlington where he led the Southland Conference in doubles, tied for the league lead in hits (89), and was second in the conference with 54 runs scored.
